Dear colleagues, member representatives, and friends of the FDSN:

It is with great sadness that I pass along the news that
Torild van Eck passed away this weekend after suffering
a heart attack.

Torild was a tireless advocate for international collaboration,
a pillar of the FDSN, and a wonderful person and scientist.
He will be sorely missed.

It is a great sad news that Torild passed away.

On behalf of myself and my institution, the Royal Spanish Navy Observatory,
specially ion behalf of the Geophysical department, I'd like to express my
more deep and sincere condolences for so sudden and sad loss.
