FDSN Network Information

FDSN code 3B (2014-2014) Network name BELENRT, Reflection imaging using railroad noise as seismic source (Belen Reflection Test)
Start year 2014 Operated by
  • Cornell University, United States of America
End year 2014 Deployment region
Description

The is a small test of the viability of using railroad noise as the source of seismic energy for p wave refraction and reflection imaging of the subsurface using seismic interferometry. These results are desired to inform a proposal now in development which is based on applying this speculative methodology.
