End year 2018 Deployment region
Description

This dataset contains seismic data collected by 49 Guralp CMG-6TD instruments that were deployed in the Gisborne area of the North Island, New Zealand from Jan 2018 – Feb 2018. These instruments were deployed in an array measuring ~30 km x 15 km with instruments spaced roughly every 2 km. The deployment was carried out by Imperial College London, supported by GNS Science, University of Cardiff, University of Southampton and the University of Victoria, Wellington. The purpose of the deployment was to detect airgun shots produced by the R/V Marcus Langseth in an NSF-NERC funded offshore 3D seismic survey. The recorders have also detected passive source seismicity during the deployment period. The aim of the data collection was to produce physical property models of the Hikurangi subduction zone in a region of slow slip. Technical details of the survey are contained in the report “New Zealand 3D Full Waveform Inversion (NZ3D-FWI) 2017-2018 Field Acquisition Report”. Webpage https://nz3dfwi.weebly.com/home.html
