Description |
The Chile Central Crustal Seismic Network (C3SN) is a temporary seismic deployment aimed at monitoring and characterizing the crustal seismicity of active faults in the mountain front zone of Central Chile, particularly in the Metropolitan Region and the O’Higgins Region. The network is composed of broadband sensors and geophones installed along key structural segments, in order to record local and regional seismic events with high resolution. This network supports a doctoral research project focused on understanding the seismic cycle of crustal faults, their interaction with the subduction interface, and their potential to generate significant earthquakes. The data collected will be used to develop numerical models oriented toward seismic cycle modeling, to evaluate fault coupling, and to contribute to strategies for mitigating urban seismic risk. All data are intended exclusively for academic and research purposes. |
