FDSN Network Information

FDSN code UW Network name Pacific Northwest Seismic Network - University of Washington (PNSN)
Start year 1963 Operated by
  • University of Washington, United States of America
End year - Deployment region
Description

PNSN is the Tier-1 regional seismic network of the Advanced National Seismic System (ANSS) in Cascadia; responsible for reporting on seismicity within the US states of Oregon and Washington. PNSN operates more than 500 seismic stations in the region ( ~ 80 short period, > 130 broadband, >300 continuous real-time and ~ 80 triggered strong motion), under network code UW. PNSN central processing facilities are located at the University of Washington, with a major operations center at the University of Oregon. PNSN collaborates closely with the USGS Cascades Volcano Observatory who contribute data under the CC network code. PNSN produces a single seismicity catalog for the region, which is available at the PNSN website or through the ANSS ComCat.
