FDSN Network Information

FDSN code X9 (2025-2026) Network name Vega Rinconada and El Tatio Investigation of Geothermal Oscillations (VERTIGO)
Start year 2025 Operated by
End year 2026 Deployment region -
Description

This dataset originates from two complementary seismic experiments designed to investigate in detail the dynamics of the El Tatio geyser field in northern Chile. The first experiment targets the geothermal field as a whole, deploying five seismic stations for several months of continuous recording. The second focuses on the Vega Rinconada geyser, aiming to characterize its dynamics and subsurface structure through a series of eight localized deployments. Each localized deployment consisted of six seismic stations operating for 6 to 24 hours, positioned at distances ranging from 5 m to 150 m from the geyser. All instruments are Datacube recorders (Digos) equipped with 4.5 Hz three-component geophones (PE-6), acquiring data at 400 Hz.
