FDSN code ZN (2013-2013) Network name Investigation of subglacial hydrologic seismic signals, Breidamerkurjokull Glacier, Iceland- a WISSARD test case (Breida Hydrology)
Start year 2013 Operated by
  • UC Santa Cruz, United States of America
End year 2013 Deployment region
Description

I will be testing the hypothesis that seismic tremors observed on ice streams can be modeled as fluid flow through a basal water conduit, allowing an estimate of conduit dimensions, location, and flow propagation velocities. My objective is to validate this hypothesis by gathering and analyzing simultaneous observations of both active subglacial water movement and concurrent recorded seismicity at Breidamerkurjokull Glacier, Iceland.
