DATES OF OPERATION:  	29 Dec 1993 to Present

SEISMOMETER TYPE and ADC
Streckiesen STS-2 seismometer for broadband data.  ADC id Quanterra Model Q-680/VX-GC-A8

DIGITAL FORMAT:
24 bit integer data words for all components.  Range: +8,388,607 to -8,388,608 counts.

EVENT DETECTOR ALGORITHM:  None.

COMMENTS:
SBA is intended to be a backup system for the GTSN network in the event that VNDA
goes down.  If VNDA is inoperative, all data from SBA will be telemetered to the
Albuquerque Seismic Laboratory in real time.  The IRIS DMC will have this data
available for distribution immediately after major events.  If additional information
on the geophysical channels is required please contact the ASL.

While VNDA is operational, SBA data is stored on tape over the winter months. 
This data will be sent to ASL on the first available flight off of the continent 
each year (sometime around September).
