FDSN code 3P (2022-2024) Network name Fault zone hydrogeological response to earthquakes (NUMO)
Start year 2022 Operated by
  • Lawrence Berkeley National Lab
End year 2024 Deployment region -
Description

The NUMO project aims to model and measure the hydrogeological response of a major plate-bounding fault zone to the passage of seismic waves from moderate-to-large magnitude regional earthquakes. A series of boreholes is planned to be drilled into or through the fault zone and instrumented with an array of 3D displacement probes, hydrophones, low-noise accelerometers, etc...To complement this array, we are requesting a single surface broadband instrument that will aid in the modeling and measurement of passing surface waves.
