Description |
Since only several linear profiles are deployed northward enough to central Qiangtang Terrane, there do not provide good seismic constraints for the northern extent and its lateral variation of the Indian continental lithosphere. It is necessary to deploy a two-dimensional broadband seismic array at central Tibet to illuminate the crust and upper mantle of the plateau and to help us to constrain the geometry of the northern end of the Indian continental lithosphere. The SANDWICH seismic array is a two-dimensional broadband seismic array around the Bangong-Nujiang Suture in central Tibet installed by the Tectonophysics group of Tethys Research Center at Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGGCAS). The SANDWICH array starts from late October 2013 and is expected to finish in November 2016. It consists of 53 broadband seismometers equipped with Guralp CMG-3ESP three-component sensors with a response band from 60/30 second to 50 Hz and Ref Tek 72A-8/130-1 or DAS24-3D 24-bit digital recorders. |
