Description |
Between 1965 and 2003 the Carnegie Institution of Washington's Department of Terrestrial Magnetism built and operated seven broadband seismographs at nine globally distributed stations. Data was stored on magnetic tapes using five tracks per component to preserve the instrumentation's large dynamic range. Since 2017 the Institution has been undertaking a digitization effort to preserve and distribute at least part of this historic dataset in a widely accessible format. |

Additional Notes | We plan to archive data in SEED format at the IRIS DMC. Furthermore, we would like to distribute digitized raw data (currently in an HDF5 format), though we have not fully worked out the details on the latter yet. |
