FDSN Network Information

FDSN code GQ Network name German Strong Earthquake Network
Start year 2020 Operated by
  • Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR), Germany
End year - Deployment region Germany
Description

Monitoring network for strong earthquakes in Germany. The final setup will consist of 500 to 600 sites, evenly distributed in Germany. Aim is to have records from a maximum distance of 15-20km for each moderate to strong event. The Hardware is based on cheap sensors and recording systems. Continuous recordings of all sites are streamed to the data center. The data are open, free access will be available via FDSN/EIDA webservices.
