The Observatorio Argentino de Vigilancia Volcánica (OAVV) is a specialized area of SEGEMAR. Its main objective is the study and monitoring of volcanoes whose activity may affect Argentina. Through continuous and permanent surveillance, the observatory professionals detect changes in the activity of the volcanoes using various visual and instrumental methods, in order to anticipate precursor activity of an eruptive process. This way, OAVV generates early warnings, alerting Civil Protection authorities and the population, in order to mitigate the volcanic risk in Argentina. |
