FDSN Network Information

FDSN code XA (2004-2007) Network name Taylor Glacier Calving, Collaborative Research: Mechanics of Dry-Land Calving of Ice Glaciers (Taylor Glacier)
Start year 2004 Operated by
End year 2007 Deployment region
Description

This project is a comprehensive study of polar dry-based glacier termnini dynamics. The glaciers terminate in 30meter high calving ice cliffs. The seismic network will be used to study the calving component of this system. We hope to observe ice fracture and crack propagation of some individual events and overall frequency distribution (spatial, temporal) of claving events on Taylor Glacier and the other glaciers in the valley.
