FDSN Network Information

FDSN code XT (2001-2002) Network name Tonga-Fiji Dual Array Experiment (TODA)
Start year 2001 Operated by
End year 2002 Deployment region
Description

SAFT was a one-year deployment of 27 seismometers on the
islands of Fiji and Tonga. These two arrays will allow
for detailed study of the Tonga subduction zone and
deep earthquakes. The Fiji array will help constrain
mineral properties and phase changes in the down-going
slab by looking at mantle discontinuities, and the Tonga
array will be used to study the structure of the subducting
crust.
