Description |
The M5.6 earthquake on September 3, 2016, at the 7 km west of the Sooner Lake is the largest earthquake in Oklahoma after 1952 (as large as the 2011 Prague earthquake). I consider that this earthquake is also caused by waster water disposal as similar to most of earthquakes in Oklahoma recently. To understand the aftershock sequence of this earthquake, and to understand the mechanisms of induced seismicity, I need to have more seismometers. We, the University of Oklahoma, deploy some stations today and tomorrow, and other universities including USGS will also deploy some sensors. However, we still need more sensors to detect smaller events, accurately locate aftershocks, and cover the entire area. |
