Description

Very dense array (8m separation one way and 10m the other way) on active landslide through the village of Cavola, northern Appenines, Italy. Beneath the array the landslide, composed of muds/clay and underlain by marls, varies in thickness from 0 to about 40m. The purpose of the experiment was to observe in detail how seismic waves propagate in such deposits, with a view to understanding the seismic hazard posed by the amplification of seismic waves there.
