FDSN Network Information

FDSN code YB (2013-2015) Network name Continental Dynamics/Central Anatolian Tectonics: Surface to mantle dynamics during collision to escape (CDCAT)
Start year 2013 Operated by
  • University of Missouri (MU), United States of America
End year 2015 Deployment region
Description

We propose to conduct a multi-scale passive-source broadband seismic experiment that will create high-resolution images of the crust and upper mantle in central Turkey. We propose a 2-year 60 station broadband deployment with a dense array (30 stations) in and near the Central Anatolian Fault Zone (CAFZ) embedded in a regional network (30 stations) that will provide a 3D image of the crust and upper mantle seismic velocity structure. The dense array will correlate with field sites along the CAFZ. The sparser array will allow us to vastly improve the resolving power of the KOERI national seismic network by tying together the stations from other portable seismic networks including along the NAF and the station along the southern coast of Turkey.
