FDSN Network Information

FDSN code YH (2020-2020) Network name Calibration of a distributed acoustic sensing platform for measuring snow depths (SnowDAS)
Start year 2020 Operated by
  • Harvard University, United States of America
End year 2020 Deployment region
Description

Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) promises to be quite useful for geophysical observation of the cryosphere. In order to better understand the limitations of DAS technology in cold regions, we will deploy a Silixa iDAS in a snow-covered field in Vermont. We are requesting eight geophones from PASSCAL to provide a baseline measurement against which we will compare the DAS system.
