FDSN Network Information

FDSN code Z6 (2011-2017) Network name PIRE: Life on a tectonically active delta in Bangladesh (BanglaPIRE)
Start year 2011 Operated by
  • Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia University (LDEO), United States of America
End year 2017 Deployment region
Description

This is a continuation of the project NSF EAR 06-36037 (PI - Seeber) that received the initial PASSCAL instrument support. Instrument for three short-period (L4C/RT130) and three medium-period (CMG-40T/RT130) stations were supported by the PASSCAL in 2007. The current 5-year BanglaPIRE (NSF OISE 09-68354) will continue until 2015. In an effort to improve seismic studies, we request additional instrument for six stations. All with medium-period sensors (CMG-40T) or broadband sensors (STS-2/CMG-3T/Trillium 120). This is required to illuminate better the seismicity revealed by the existing 6-station array deployment.
