FDSN Network Information

FDSN code ZE (2015-2017) Network name Southern Alaska Lithosphere and Mantle Observation Network (SALMON)
Start year 2015 Operated by
  • University of Alaska, Fairbanks (UAF), United States of America
End year 2017 Deployment region
Description

The proposed deployment of 29 broadband stations will target two features of the southern Alaska subduction zone: (1) the Cook Inlet forearc basin as a 3D volume; (2) a slab-normal transect spanning Cook Inlet basin, Redoubt volcano, and the backarc region. The array will sit on top of pervasive slab seismicity for a two-year period.
