BER - STATION INSTRUMENTATION

1. Digital World Wide Standardized Seismograph System - DWWSSN: [ DW ]

DATES OF OPERATION:    08 Aug 1981 to 27 Aug 1984.	

SEISMOMETER TYPE AND ADC:
Seismometers for this site are different from normal WWSSN.  Geotech Model 18300
three component system for short-period data.  Geotech Model SL-210 vertical and
Model SL-220 horizontal seismometers for mid-period and long-period data.

DIGITAL FORMAT:
16 bit integer data words for all components.  Range: +32,767 to -32,768 counts.

EVENT DETECTOR ALGORITHM:  
The event detector used for the SHZ channel was developed by G. Holcomb at the
ASL and is not documented.  The mid-period channels are detected on a straight 
forward amplitude basis.

can be found in Peterson et al (1982).  The system at BER was not a standard DWWSSN
station due to separate seismometers furnished by Bergen University.
