Geology: Pre-Cambrian metamorphic rock.
Vault Conditions: Concrete pier poured directly onto bedrock; surrounded by an insulated building completely covered by overburden. Unheated instrument room.
Site Description: FRB is located at the head of Frobisher Bay on Baffin Island, approximately 150 km from the eastern edge of the Boothia-Ungava Seismic Zone and 200-400 km from the Labrador Sea and Baffin Island seismic zones (25 events in 1993). There is no natural seismic activity within 150 km of FRB.
